How to Install Mercedes Door Logo Light — Step-by-Step

After you install a Mercedes door logo light, you will see the special Mercedes three-pointed star on the ground every time you open the car door. It is one of the cleanest, most worthwhile upgrades for any Mercedes. The door lights look really natural, like a factory part. But in fact, there is no logo-projecting door light from the factory on Mercedes models. In this guide, we provide the whole installation process for How to Install Mercedes Door Logo Light. We also explain the difference between door panel lights and mirror puddle lights on Mercedes. What’s more, all compatible models are also listed.

What Is a Mercedes Door Logo Light?

A Mercedes door logo light is an LED projector. You can install it into the factory door light socket at the lower edge of the door panel. When you open the door, the LED light turns on. The quartz glass lens focuses the light into a sharp image, so you will see the Mercedes three-pointed star logo on the ground below the door sill. The light will turn off as soon as you close the door. You can connect the light to the existing door switch circuit through the factory socket. You don’t need any new wiring, coding, or changes to the car’s electrical system.

How to Install Mercedes Door Logo Light — A Quick Overview

On most Mercedes-Benz models, there are two different puddle light positions: the door panel socket and the mirror socket. They are totally different products, and you cannot exchange them with each other.

The door panel socket is at the lower inside edge of the door, which faces the ground. It can project light directly below the door when you open the door. Also, you can find this socket in this installation guide. The mirror socket is in a housing under the side mirror. It projects light downward from the mirror alongside the car. Also, it usually turns on when you unlock the car. We also provide Mercedes mirror puddle lights in our shop.

Many Mercedes models have both light types, while some have only one. You need to check both locations on your car before you order any product.

What You Will Need

First, you should prepare suitable Mercedes door logo lights for your model and the removal pick in the package. Then it takes you about 5 minutes to install for each door. Also, you don’t need any extra tools.

Step-by-Step Installation

Step 1: Open the door fully. Then you should find the door light socket at the lower inside edge of the door panel. On Mercedes models, the socket is usually a 28–32mm circular fitting with a small notch beside it for the removal tool.

Step 2: You can put the pointed end of the removal pick into the notch beside the socket. You should remember to apply gentle pressure until you feel or hear the socket release from its clip.

Step 3: You can pull the socket out from the door panel. The socket is attached to a short wire harness which can extend about 4–6cm. You should not pull it hard. If it does not come out with gentle pressure, you can reinsert the pick and try again.

Step 4: Now you can take off the factory bulb from the socket connector. You can remove most Mercedes factory bulbs by pressing in and twisting to release.

Step 5: You can connect the new Mercedes LED logo projector to the socket connector. During the process, if you want to insert it correctly, you need to ensure the quartz glass lens is facing downwards.

Step 6: You can push the socket back into the door panel and twist clockwise to lock it into the retaining clip.

Step 7: For testing, you should open and close the door to confirm the Mercedes star projects correctly on the ground. Also, the logo should be sharp and clear. If the image appears blurry or off-center, you need to remove the socket and check if the projector is fully seated in the connector.

Step 8: You can carry out the process for all other doors. In fact, you will need less time for installation from the second door.

Mercedes Step-by-Step Installation

No Coding Required

If you buy Mercedes door logo lights as an aftermarket replacement, you do not require XENTRY or Star Diagnosis coding. You can connect the lights to the door switch circuit through the existing factory socket. The circuit also controls the original factory door light. The lights can work just as well as the original bulb. What’s more, you don’t need to visit a Mercedes dealer or an independent Mercedes specialist for this installation.

How Many Sets Do You Need?

There are 2 lights in each CarLightsLogo Mercedes door logo light set. They are suitable for each front door. Most Mercedes models have door light sockets in all four doors. If you want to cover all four doors, you should order two sets. If you only need to light up the front doors, one set is enough.

Apart from door panel lights, we also provide Mercedes mirror puddle lights in two versions: triangle (for most C-Class, E-Class and GLC models) and rectangle (for S-Class, GLE and GLS models).
