Frequently Asked Questions — Cadillac Door Lights
What are Cadillac ghost lights?+
Cadillac ghost lights are door logo projector lights that cast the Cadillac crest onto the ground when the door opens. The term “ghost lights” is widely used by Cadillac owners — the glowing crest that appears below the door sill creates a ghost-light visual effect. They fit into the factory door socket at the lower edge of the door panel and are a direct plug-and-play replacement for the factory bulb. No drilling, no wiring and no coding required.
What are puddle lamps on a Cadillac crest?+
Cadillac puddle lamps are the LED lights mounted in the underside of the side mirror housing. When you unlock the car or open the door, they project the Cadillac crest logo downward onto the ground alongside the car. This is different from the door panel projectors — puddle lamps are mirror-mounted, not door-mounted. We stock Cadillac puddle lights (mirror version) for CTS, XT5, XT6 and Escalade models — see the Cadillac Mirror Puddle Lights and Cadillac Side Mirror Puddle Lights products in this collection.
What is the difference between Cadillac door projector lights and Cadillac puddle lights?+
These are two different products with different installation locations. Cadillac door projector lights (also called ghost lights or door logo lights) fit into the socket at the lower edge of the door panel and project the Cadillac crest when the door opens. Cadillac puddle lights fit into the underside of the side mirror housing and project the crest alongside the car from mirror height. Some Cadillac models have both sockets — others have only one. Check both your door panel lower edge and your mirror underside before ordering to confirm which socket type your Cadillac has.
How do I turn on Cadillac door lights?+
Cadillac door lights activate automatically — there is no separate switch. When you open the door, the door switch circuit sends power to the door light socket and the LED projector illuminates instantly, casting the Cadillac crest onto the ground. When the door closes, the light switches off automatically. Our aftermarket Cadillac door lights work on exactly the same principle as the factory door light. If your newly installed light is not activating, confirm the socket is fully seated and twisted into the locked position.
Which Cadillac models have door light sockets?+
Most Cadillac models from 2013 onward have factory door light sockets — including ATS (2013–2019), CT4 (2020–2025), CT5 (2020–2025), CT6 (2016–2023), CTS (2014–2019), XT4 (2019–2025), XT5 (2017–2025), XT6 (2020–2025) and Escalade (2015–2025). To confirm, open your door and check the lower edge of the door panel for a small circular socket. If it is present, our door projector lights will fit. Not sure? Message us on WhatsApp (+852 5 443 1653) with your model and year.
Do Cadillac door lights require coding or dealer programming?+
No coding and no dealer programming required. Our Cadillac door lights are a direct plug-and-play replacement for the factory door socket bulb — they connect to the same circuit and activate on the same door open trigger. Remove the original bulb using the included removal tool, insert the LED projector with the lens facing downward, push the socket back in and twist to lock. Installation takes under 5 minutes per door.
Are Cadillac door lights and Cadillac light up emblems the same product?+
No — these are completely different products. Cadillac door lights (ghost lights / door projectors) fit into the door panel socket and project the crest logo onto the ground when the door opens. Cadillac light up emblems replace the front grille or bonnet badge with an illuminated version that glows when the headlights are active. If you are looking for an illuminated Cadillac front badge for the CT4, CT5, XT5, XT6 or Escalade, see our LED Car Emblem collection instead.
