How to Install Lexus Door Lights — Complete Guide

Lexus is known for great build quality and understated interior design. Therefore, many Lexus owners are interested in aftermarket upgrades that look like factory parts. Lexus door lights are one of the upgrades that can project the Lexus logo on the ground. Many people think they were from the factory, but actually they were not. In this guide, we introduce the whole installation process and compatible Lexus models with year ranges. You can also find the differences between Lexus door lights and the Lexus front emblem. Moreover, there are answers to the most common questions from Lexus owners. In this comprehensive guide, you will learn How to Install Lexus Door Lights.

Does My Lexus Have a Door Light Socket?

Most Lexus models since 2010 have a factory door light socket at the lower inside edge of the door panel. There is a factory plain white door light bulb in the socket. It is a small circular fitting, and you can install a plug-and-play LED logo projector in it directly.

You should confirm your Lexus has this socket before ordering. How to check? You should open the front door and look at the lower inside edge of the door panel. Then you will see a small circular housing about 28–35mm in diameter. If you can find it, the installation is easy and fully plug-and-play. But if you cannot find the socket, you had better contact us with your Lexus model and year. After receiving your message, we will help you confirm before you order.

Older Lexus models may not have the standard door light socket, such as IS before 2014, GX before 2010, and some LS and LX before 2012. You can check the product page for your model or contact us to confirm.

Learn How to Install Lexus Door Lights Easily

You need to confirm the model and generation before ordering. Then you can order suitable Lexus door lights for your model. You will need the removal pick in the package and about 5 minutes to install for every door. Moreover, you don’t need any other tools or materials.

Step-by-Step Installation — All Lexus Models

Step 1: You should open the door fully. The door should be at 90 degrees or more so that you have enough space to finish the work at the lower door panel.

Step 2: You need to find the factory door light socket at the lower inside edge of the door panel. The socket faces downward to the ground.

Step 3: You can insert the pointed end of the removal pick into the notch or slot beside the socket housing. Remember to apply gentle pressure to release the socket from its clip in the door panel.

Step 4: Now you can pull the socket gently out from the door panel. You will find the socket is connected to a short wire harness which extends 3–5cm from the door panel.

Step 5: You should take off the factory bulb from the socket connector. For different Lexus model years, there are two different ways. The first is a push-and-twist action. The second is that you can pull it out after releasing a small tab.

Step 6: Now you can connect the new Lexus LED logo projector to the socket connector. The lens must face downward to the ground. The connector is keyed and will only seat correctly in the right direction.

Step 7: You should push the socket back into the door panel and twist clockwise to lock it into the clip.

Step 8: Don’t forget to open and close the door to test. The Lexus logo should appear on the ground as soon as you open the door. Moreover, the light will turn off when you close the door.

Lexus Door Lights Step by Step Installation

No Coding and No Dealer Visit Required

Lexus door lights are fully plug-and-play replacements. You don’t need any software change, dealer coding, or reprogramming. You can connect them to the same door switch circuit that controls the original door light through the existing factory socket. Also, there is no need for Lexus Tech-stream or other diagnostic tool. As a result, the lights can work perfectly from the moment of installation.

Lexus Door Lights vs Lexus Light Up Front Emblem — Two Different Products

There are two of the most popular Lexus products on our website. They are Lexus door lights and the Lexus light up front emblem. In fact, they are totally different products.
Our Lexus door lights are LED projectors that are installed in the lower edge of the door panel socket. They can project the Lexus logo on the ground when you open the door. Lexus light up front emblem is the LED replacement for the factory front grille badge. It will light up when you turn on the headlights or DRLs. You can replace the factory badge with it and connect a 2-wire harness to the headlight circuit. There are two sizes to choose from: 163mm and 175mm.

You can visit our website for the Lexus front emblem. There are two types available: dynamic LED and static LED versions. What’s more, we provide suitable LED emblems for NX, RX, ES, IS, GX and LX models. You can also receive size guidance for your model year.

How Many Sets Do You Need?

There are 2 LED projector lights in each set, which are enough for both front doors. Most Lexus models have door light sockets in all four doors. Therefore, if you want to install on all four doors, you should order two sets. If you prefer the front doors only, one set is enough. In fact, many customers order one set because the front doors are the most visible.

Quality Differences — Why Quartz Glass Matters for Lexus

Lexus owners tend to pay much attention to interior quality. If they buy LED door lights that become blurry or yellow after 12 months, there is no doubt that they will be very disappointed with the quality. Our Lexus door lights have a quartz glass lens, which is the same standard lens material in premium models. We will never use PMMA acrylic or film chip, which is often seen in cheap products. By using quartz glass, we can ensure the Lexus logo projection always looks sharp. Also, we should make sure the performance does not degrade over time for the entire service life.

Summary

In all, you just need less than 5 minutes to install Lexus door lights for each door with the removal pick. The lights are suitable for Lexus models including NX, RX, ES, IS, GX, LX, and UX from 2010 to 2025. You don’t need any coding. Also, you can order both Lexus light up front emblem and Lexus door lights in our shop. The selling price of door lights starts at $39.99.
